Description
In the 1980s, several European workshops explored aluminum as a sculptural material, seeking to liberate forms from all rigidity. This pair of candlesticks is a beautiful illustration of this, playing on the idea of the knotted tube to create a graphic and deliberately atypical presence.
Made from solid aluminum, they feature a bent and polished finish that highlights the continuity of the metal. No designer or manufacturer is identified, suggesting a small-batch, handcrafted production, typical of the decade.
The condition is very good, with a light patina on the bases and surfaces, consistent with the material and its use. The heights vary from 46 cm to 60 cm, with a width of approximately 17 cm.
Sculptural pieces by nature, these two candlesticks work equally well as a pair or separately. They find their place naturally on a console or contemporary table, adding a touch of 80s design that is both discreet and assertive.
