Description
In 1960s Italy, refinement was also expressed through repetition: offering an object in pairs, designed to interact on a desk or dressing table, reflected a true sense of domestic staging. We present here a pair of rectangular boxes in black leather, with compartmentalized wooden interiors, made around 1960. Their structure is covered in smooth black leather with subtly rounded corners, displaying a refined formal simplicity. The interior, entirely made of wood, reveals a meticulous arrangement: central compartments and a space dedicated to rings, highlighted by a beautifully crafted metal hinge.
The balance between the exterior’s austere exterior and the warmth of the wood evokes the high-end Italian craftsmanship of the period. The condition is exceptional: brand new, never used pieces from an old shop stock from the 60s. The leather is perfectly taut, without marks, the interiors are intact. Each box measures 23 cm in length, 15 cm in width and 6 cm in height — a generous and elegant size. Placed opposite each other on a modernist desk or a sideboard, they structure the space with discretion and distinction, while offering refined storage for jewelry and precious objects.
