Description
« The Kiss » (1916) was a turning point in Constantin Brancusi’s artistic career. It represents a man and a woman embracing. The two figures become one, made from a single block of limestone.
After this sculpture, his work evolved towards simplification.
The Margit Lamp represents the embrace of « The Kiss » in a single block of carved limestone. At the same time, the simplified forms refer to the evolution of Brancusi’s work.
Materials: honed limestone base and slightly motted cotton shade.
