Description
No Body is a sculpture, as a lamp. Part of an introspective and deeply personal body of work and Ia Kutateladze’s first solo exhibition that explores the artist’s more than decade-long battle with an eating disorder. Utilising body and its deformed, detached parts as a crucial visual and emotional element, developing a surrealist visual approach, having tongues come out of eyes and eyes looking out of mouths, hands forming from eyes, limb like elements, as a representation of the mental and psychological turmoil and the distortion of the bodily perceptions. Body image through the lenses of distortion, exaggeration and self-abuse. Each piece is one of kind. Every piece will be variable, as the process of the making is completely free hand.
