Description
In the 1980s, Scandinavian design continued its pursuit of a balance between simple forms and sculptural volumes. This pair of candlesticks illustrates this approach, with a clear geometric composition. Danish work from the 80s, unattributed. Each candlestick is made of an assembly of cylindrical and spherical volumes in copper-plated metal, probably turned and then patinated. The surface has a subtly nuanced finish, revealing the craftsmanship and the effects of time. The ensemble evokes a minimalist aesthetic, typical of Nordic design from this period.
Good overall condition. Visible wear and uneven patina on the metal, consistent with age, contributing to the character of the piece. No structural deformation.
