Rectangular Italian Metal Box, 70s

Description

In 1970s Italy, office and home accessories became true design objects. This rectangular box perfectly illustrates this attention to detail and materials. Made of metal, its lid is covered with a burr walnut-effect panel, protected by its original plastic coating. The warm, deep grain contrasts elegantly with the beveled metal frame, typical of the modernist style of the period. The interior is lined with red felt, now beautifully patinated, which shows its age while remaining in fine condition. The upper plastic, imitating walnut burl, is perfectly stable: neither cracked nor yellowed, it retains all its visual depth.

The metal displays a light and even patina, consistent with its age. Its proportions – 31.5 cm long, 10 cm wide and 3.5 cm high – make it an ideal piece to hold mail, valuable documents or office accessories.
