Description
A French Art Deco side chair in ebonised wood by René Prou, the model documented in Atelier René Prou’s advertisement in Mobilier & Décoration, October 1930. The rounded back, clean tapering legs and compact form are characteristic of Prou’s refined approach to seating, achieving lightness and comfort without ornament. Newly upholstered in Dedar Milano Vladimiro, a kid mohair velvet, in deep charcoal. René Prou’s pupils at the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs included Charlotte Perriand and the postwar modernists Pierre Guariche and Alain Richard
