Description
A sculptural Art Deco pewter pitcher, crafted in 1933 by GAB (Guldsmedsaktiebolaget), one of Sweden’s most prestigious manufacturers of silver objects. Built around a boldly geometric form, the hinged lid is crowned with a cast faun figure that brings a playful, mythological counterpoint to the restrained silhouette. The combination of pure geometry and figural detail is what makes this piece so striking.
Truthfully, this is more sculpture than pitcher — equally beautiful displayed on its own or with a single long-stemmed flower in the spout.
The pewter has developed a beautiful patina with age. Stamped on the base with the GAB maker’s mark and the ‘G8’ year code, confirming production in 1933.
Condition: In good vintage condition in accordance with age and use. Patina, scratches and small marks are present.
