Description
The Serwetka Lamp is part of The Romance Collection which is a continuing dialogue between embroidery, carpentry, and smithery. This piece was inspired by my grandmother’s embroidered aprons and napkins, particularly the intricate motifs of openwork embroidery. Her hand-drawn patterns became a conceptual starting point for translating textile into structural form. In the Serwetka Lamp, perforations in the aluminum echo the lace-like voids of embroidery.
These cut-outs allow the aluminum sheets to be “stitched” together with gathered textile ruffles, turning decorative into functional. Just like in the rest of The Romance, this lamp continues the generational story of craft, bridging the intimate world of domestic textiles with the cool hardness of industrial materials to create something both nostalgic and new.
